Old coppice side heanor5/7/2023 ![]() In some ways, I hope it's forty years until my next, but it will probably be some time next season. ![]() This was my first Kiddy League game since cheering on Kingswinford United in the late sixties. Wyre Forest play on a different pitch from their West Midlands League days - their current home is Springfield Park in Kidderminster, and it's pretty crap, to be honest. The second half, in comparison, was a delight, because the home side scored three cracking goals to beat the league leaders. Nothing else happened, other than the park being used also for meetings of both Kidderminster Young Alcoholics and the Fat Chavs Society. The game was played on a dust bowl of a pitch and consisted of 22 players, plus managers, substitutes and supporters hurling abuse at the bloke in the black shirt. The first half of this game was probably the low point of my life so far. Wyre Forest 3 Birch Coppice 2 (Kidderminster & District League Premier Division) Att: 52 h/c The pitch, which was unroped, was in excellent condition unlike so many of the pitches visited recently.īelgium (Pyramid = 1,484 1st teams) 0-0-2-5-8-21-173-303-254 ![]() Despite having its own changing rooms, they got changed at their own changing rooms and walked down to the ground, which has a rugby pitch as you enter, followed by the pitch used tonight, with 2 more football pitches beyond. This season they are using Wallfield Park Playing Fields, Green Lane, which is about 100 yards from their normal ground. Reigate missed a penalty on 58 minutes with the final goal coming seven minutes from time.ĭue to cricket their normal home ground can't be used at this time of season, so an alternative venue is used, previously being the ground of tonights visitors. Goals on 27, 40 and 45 minutes gave the visitors a 0-3 lead by halftime with a 4th added on 52 minutes as the No.7 completed his hattrick. No admission or programme (unofficial pirate issued and secretly distributed to those who couldn't count the game otherwise)Ħth bottom v 3rd bottom and the 4th consecutive game that Reigate have conceded 5 goals. Reigate Priory 0 Coulsdon United 5 att.36 (10 hoppers) (This post was edited by Veteran on Apr 20, 2011, 8:28 PM) A further goal just past the hour mark left me thinking a cricket score was possible but the visitors actually improved after this, without really threatening, and the homesters effectively "declared". Any thoughts of a visitors' revival were extinguished as Kings Arms scored after 40 seconds of the restart and again 9 minutes into the half. ![]() ![]() Indeed the first home goal originated from this source after just 7 minutes and a bad defensive slip gifted them the second 11 minutes later. They looked tight in defence, had lively attackers who several times beat the Shirland offside trap, despite the efforts of the latter's club linesman, and also had a full back with an enormous long throw. Not the highest quality game but the home side showed their title credentials with this demolition of last year's champions. This is a very pleasant setting although the pitch is the only flattish bit and was devoid of grass in much of both penalty areas. Game between 1st and 3rd in the very tight Matlock League title race, played at the Recreation Ground in Crich (of Tramway fame).
